Signals to kids/spouse that conversation should be limited?
Hello!
This weekend has been such a classic strain for me. Everyone wants time with me, and I end up going past my limits. I have a large pair of headphones for completely off limits. But there are times when I need to move around or I am not completely off limits, just perhaps have less capacity for engaging. Like, if you want to chat, keep it quick. Otherwise what happens is I am trying to recover from a long conversation with one person, and someone else will start a new one. In spite of the fact I am engaging in a special interest, have removed myself, and/or heavily stimming.
Does anyone use a lanyard system at home? I was thinking I could do something like the sunflower lanyard for home to mean mom is recharging right now. What other strategies do you use to communicate "I am doing needed recovery time" or "nearing capacity for stimuli"?
