What do Latin Americans think about Spain and Portugal?

For context, I'm from Gibraltar which is a British Oversees Territory, culturally very much a blend of British and Spanish - I've been discussing with people from Spain the cultural connection they may or may not feel both to us here in Gib and to the wider Spanish-speaking world (just personal interest) so I'm just interested how people from Latin America feel about Spain and Portugal (not politically or historically, but in terms of cultural connections)
