Working front desk during busy periods alone..

I’m a fairly new employee and just finished training during a two week period. I started around the holidays so during training it was pretty slow. Now that I’m on my own working mostly 2-10pm shifts, I’m realizing that I’m completely alone during this time and no one else is working on site. Is that a normal thing in this industry? I live in a small town but we have a popular college close by and some manufacturing companies where regular guests stay here often for work. It feels like a security issue and that at least one other employee should be around like maintenance, housekeeping or someone in management.

I’m trying not to let this job overwhelm, but it’s been chaotic with big groups coming in and I’m constantly having to call my manager for help or relaying guests questions because I’m still new and don’t really know how to answer. I want to get better at this job but I’m also thinking maybe this isn’t for me. An older man who’s a guest staying here has been making comments about me being alone during work and I guess it’s making me paranoid. Are all front desk agents mostly alone during their shift?
