How do I go about learning carpentry?

I(22M) lately have this desire to acquire an actual skill, not something I know but something I can do with my hands. As much as I have hobbies like reading etc, I want something to keep me occupied. An art of sorts and I have no idea how to go about it. Especially since, I'm currently pursuing my postgrad - honours to be specific. Are there any institutions that offer part time courses on weekends or during holidays?
