Unpopular Opinion Season 2 Episode 7 was entirely Uncecessary/Cheat for Jinx's redemption /Ekko Romance
I'm going to go out say it. We did not need Episode 7 , especially if the writers wanted Ekko and Jinx to be endgame and have their relationship be organic.
When it comes down to brass tacks, Ekko knew that there was still Powder in Jinx. He definitely knew. Throwing in AU fan fiction Universe where Powder is happy, good, and in a good state mind is a redundant. Unneeded plot point. It's not different than waking up from a dream and getting to experience that a girl you liked could have been good if things could have been different. Like obviously? It would have much much more profound if Ekko aay Jinxs humanity in front of him in the MU universe. When it comes to love, its a risk, a worthy risk that people embark on, do we get hurt yeah. That's the whole point , the journey and not the destination.. Seeing AU Powder doesn't tell him anything different then he would have already know or COULD have know if they just reconciled organic in the MU Universe.
It woulpd have been much better having Ekko see Jinx with Isha as a way to humanizs and show she's not so far gone. Hell it would have just reminded him that the manipulation by Silco was just that bad and his views were towars Silco rather than just Jinx. Ekko finding Jinx at the beginning of Season 2 would have been better. He could have seen her sacrifice herself to help Save Isha and free everyone from prison and even the firelights. Seeing Ekko by her side would have been a strong symbol of forgiveness if even Ekko is taking that chance. If the firelights could forgive Jinx that quickly, why couldn't Ekko. Plus seeing their leader would have solidified in them that even though she's killed many of them. If Ekko is giving her a chance. Then they should also and find a way to forgive
There are sooook many instances I. Season 2 thag Ekko could have seen that would have worked better than an AU universe. Seeing Jinx sith Vi and her Dad? Ekko at Viktors camp as they consider staying and helping? Seeing Jinx reconcile with her SISTER and Vander. All these would have show that our POWDER is still there. We didn't need an episode to show Jinx was still capable of good. We saw it all season.
Why did Ekko need to focus on what COULD have been rather than what Jinx is doing now. It's only worse to think that if Ekko tried to reach out this time, it would have WORKED. Then they can work on starting from the ground up.
Hell Jinx and Ekko working to invent the Z Drivr would have been. WAYY more romantic. As they built something TOGETHER something to help Save the city and others rather than destroy. They could have spent this entire season with him along.
Her losing Isha would have been way more profound as he would have been getting to know the good side of her and consoled her. Seeinf the girl he loved wasn't gone as he could be there by her side. They didn't need to show her ending the cycle because Ekko is already proof of that.
All in all Seeing AU Powded is just a quick shortcut for Ekko to realize Jinx has redeeming qualities when there were several instances in season 2 that if be saw, would completely removed the need for AU Powder to tell him he needs to leave some things behind. Hell this wouldn't have ruined the final battle scene. After Ekko finally gets his feelings validated, he gets to fight with the girl he loves. Ekko not being involved just doesn't make as much sense because he would have loved her regardless. Love is about faith regardless id what happens. Ekko is proof of that.
Did Vi stop loving Cait even though she lost belief in herself and felt betrayed? No
Did Jayce stop loving Viktor even after he lost his way? Became unrecognizable from the man he loved and cherished even if he wanted to end the world and destroy it.
No Jayce did not.
So why does Ekko need an entire reality to validate his feelings for Jinx? He doesn't. He needed to see her as she is now and not could have been.Ekkos love story could have been more beautiful but still tragic if she still "died" in the end but their relationship would have progresses and their reconciliation natural.
