Why I don't want to rewatch Arcane

The post-Arcane depression is running its course, and with time, it’s becoming slightly easier to handle, though the dull emptiness remains.

What I’ve noticed is that many people in these threads talk about rewatching the series multiple times and quickly feeling the urge to dive back into that world. For me, the opposite has happened. The series is phenomenal—probably the best thing I’ve ever watched—and yet it left an incredibly deep void. But the ending, the cut (missing) scenes, the rushed pacing, and the many unresolved threads have made me feel no desire to watch it again.

I did enjoy discovering Easter eggs on Reddit and reading the occasional theory about the outcome. But ultimately, I canceled my Netflix subscription and am actively trying to forget the series—if I’m honest, out of sheer frustration. Every brilliant scene ends with the thought (for me) that there’s no real resolution, no conclusion.

I understand that many people are satisfied with the ending (and I don’t want to start a debate about whether that’s right or wrong—it’s not up for discussion). Personally, I was deeply disappointed. Not with the creators, but with the fact that such a brilliantly told story concludes in a loud yet largely hollow ending. It simply doesn’t feel right.

I wouldn’t argue that a more reconciliatory ending would have harmed the characters. And I’m not even sure if the writers themselves are completely satisfied—I can hardly imagine they are. By the standards of the series’ overall quality, the ending feels… not good enough. Colorless, flat. But perhaps that’s just my own speculation… and maybe I’m entirely wrong.

Do you also feel a certain fatigue toward the series? Not out of disinterest or because the hype is fading, but because engaging with its dramatic structure, its conclusion, and the unresolved character arcs is so crushing and demoralizing? Every fanfiction runs through my mind, only to hit the harsh reality that the official resolution leaves us with stark, empty open ends.

The prospect of more stories from the League of Legends universe is nice enough, but uninspiring, as long as the looming prospect of further unresolved endings hangs in the air.
