Amblypygi terrarium set up advice

After doing some research on tailless whip scorpions I’ve mostly got a good idea on what’s needed but their just some obscure question left I need answering to provide a good enclosure before I actually set one up?

Main questions: -firstly what types of wood are good for whip spiders? I know cork is amazing but I kind of don’t want to be locked into only using it, I would prefer having multiple types of wood mainly drift woods like spider wood! But I don’t know if this can be harmful or not? Any suggestions could help

-secondly are stones/rocks and gravel ok? I heard they can be found in caves? But I also heard stories of them damaging their whips on rocks? So can I use them (I really like dragon/seiryu, plus some pea gravel)? And if so what types would be best and what should I avoid?

  • are isopods okay? I want a bioactive enclosure with springtails and isopods, but I heard they can cause stress and nibble on my whip spider. What species if any are good? Ones that won’t breed out of control (and that might be a good snack for a hungry whip spider to keep population in check!) and ones that won’t physically cause harm? Also would providing elevated hides prevent nibbling?

-bioactive enclosures? I want one, with moss and plants but is that a good idea? What lights would be best? I heard they can’t see blue or red lights? Would uvb be good for both my plants or whip scorpion? What soil brands are best? Also what would be good for a separation layer? Weed mesh or window screen? I would prefer something not made of metal so it doesn’t leech into the soil. Also would a fog machine be safe? Just for asthmatics I would still mist.

-one last question!! Cohabing phrynus marginemaculatus? And enclosure size? I’m considering getting a 8x8x12 or 12x12x18/24, would these be okay for phrynus marginemaculatus/whitei (these species are the most available for me? Also how safely can I cohab marginemaculatus if I wanted too?
