Baya Mahieddine - The painter who inspired picasso
A very talented and historical algerian self-taught artist that you should know, she grew up in poverty (in the 30s) At 16, she had her first exhibition in paris and impressed/got noticed by many renowed artists including picasso. Even though she didn't classify her work into a genre, her art is said to be modern, primitive, surrealist and portraying mostly a joyful women community. While being underrated/lesser known, she still remains an influential artist around the world, inspiring many many regular and famous painters..
