Is anyone else against the possibility of adult Melissa?

I just could not think of a single character I care less to see survive. Why would they get us attached to other side characters like Mari and Akilah just to make the 8th survivor someone that I can’t recall a single line from? I couldn’t even tell you what her personality archetype is supposed to be. Her only identifiable trait has been Hat.

Is anyone else deeply bothered by this possibility or do I need to calm down? Like, I trust they could do something interesting with it, but I would hate for such an awaited and intriguing plot reveal to be centered around such a boring character. I’m really holding out hope that she’s either someone they encountered in the wilderness (unlikely) or a family member looking for answers. Although the adult Melissa theory does seem the most plausible by far.
