I don't know how to play this tank

The AMX M4 54 is a really weird tank I can't understand how to play it, it has great frontal armour, but when I side scrape I get penned, it's also really easy to rush someone because of your high speed but then get jumped by like 3 tanks, can someone help me with this tank?
