What to do next?

I’ve been in the wedding industry for about 18 years now, it’s been my full-time job for about 12 years. I love the work that I do, I love all my clients, I don’t even mind working weekends in the summer and fall, but as we roll into prime booking season 2025, All I hear is crickets. I have four weddings booked for 2025 where most years I’ve got at least 15 at this point. I have not done anything differently, I keep up with posting and networking, and all of that, I just really think something happened after Covid that really shook up the industry in my area. I’m in the northeast US by the way.

So now I’m a little shaken and nervous that this may be the end of the road for me. I’m not sure what else I can do to make this work. Everything I’ve known to work in the past no longer does in the same way.

For those of you that have transitioned to another career outside of photography after your wedding photography career has come to an end, what is it that you do now? I have a degree in communications/media with concentrations in technical writing and graphic design, but obviously I haven’t used that degree in a corporate job for at least 12 years. I love food and beverage, but I’d love to get away from working nights and weekends, I’m just not sure what other skills I have as a self-employed business owner for this many years that would transfer to something new. It’s tough to not really have a resume with any specific job skills like you would get at a corporate gig.
