Wealthsimple Visa Infinite has replaced my Amex Cobalt

I just completed my first billing period with the Wealthsimple Visa Infinite card, and it has now become my default card. My cashback was exactly 2% of my total spend for the period and was deposited into my WS Cash account on January 15th.

For the past four years, I’ve used the Amex Cobalt as my primary card, with a Mastercard as a backup due to many businesses near me not accepting Amex. However, I’m now questioning whether the $12.99/month fee for the Amex Cobalt is still worth it. While we did enjoy a few trips using the Aeroplan conversion of Amex MR points, the card's earn rate has gradually declined over the years.

What I love about the WS Visa Infinite is its simplicity. The flat 2% earn rate with no categories or spending limits, combined with receiving cashback monthly instead of annually, is awesome. Plus, being able to use the card almost everywhere (arghh... Costco) without needing a backup is so convenient. I often go out just carrying my driver's license and the WS Visa Infinite in my pocket.

Thank you Wealthsimple!
