[Question] Help Me Choose the Perfect Watch for My Groomsmen 🎩⏱️
Hi r/watches! I’m relatively new to the world of watches, but I’ve always envisioned gifting my groomsmen something timeless (pun intended) to commemorate my wedding day—and now, that moment is finally here.
For my own big day, I’m planning on wearing a Cartier Tank Must or Santos (still deciding—open to thoughts on that too!), but unfortunately, I can’t swing getting a Cartier for each of my groomsmen. Instead, I’m looking for something elegant, recognizable, and a great introduction to the watch world for them.
Here’s the thing: none of them are hardcore “watch guys” (yet!), but I want them to feel like they’re receiving something special—something they’ll enjoy wearing during the ceremony and hopefully beyond. Oh, and they’re all bigger dudes with big wrists, so sizing matters!
Here are my top contenders: 1. TISSOT LE LOCLE POWERMATIC 80 • Easily the most elegant option (IMO). Tissot has that Swiss heritage that even non-watch people seem to recognize. 2. Seiko Presage Cocktail Time • This one has a cool story behind it—I spent time in Tokyo with my best man, so the Seiko heritage and Cocktail Time vibe would be a nice nod to that. 3. Orient Bambino Version 9 • I’ll admit I’m less familiar with Orient as a brand, but it seems to have a strong reputation for quality and value, especially from what I’ve read here and on YouTube.
Questions for the experts: • Which of these do you think would make the best impression on a group of non-watch guys? • Are there other brands/models in a similar price range that I should consider? • Bonus: If you’ve done something similar, I’d love to hear what you chose and how it was received!
