3 Days In, Early Thoughts and Questions

2024

Picked up this 2024 SEL Premium R-Line earlier this week when my 2007 Honda Odyssey, which has been an absolute warrior for the last 17 years, finally needed to be retired. I have caught myself taking many "look backs" as I walk away from the vehicle in the past few days just to look at it.... it looks sweet. One of the first things that surprised me was how well this thing performs for having a 4 cylinder engine. I've had a V6 for the past 17 years and said I'd never go back. The Atlas still "sounds like" a 4-banger, but from a power and acceleration standpoint I have zero complaints.

Ok, now, I know its early and I may eventually figure these out, but I do have a few questions I'm hoping the community can answer. Please feel free to answer any and/or all that you can.

  1. Is there any way to force the powered side mirrors to fold in while the car is on? They fold when I lock the car, but I'd like to be able to fold them in as I'm pulling into my smallish sized garage.
  2. Please tell me that the temp and volume touch controls under the screen are backlit and mine are just not working? Those are completely unusable at night if they aren't. I have a hard time believing VW would overlook something that simple.
  3. When listening to the radio, is there a way to get the screen to display the station and song information? Whether I'm on the Radio or Favorites screen, it shows the station number, but I don't get any of the song or station name information that I know exists because I can see it on my wife's Honda.
  4. What is Travel Assist when I have cruise control enabled? And why does it always veer the vehicle hard left the second its engaged? It nearly took me into the cement median the first time I turned it on because I wasn't ready for that.
  5. Is there any way to set the car temp when you remote start the vehicle from the MyVW app?
  6. Are the key fobs synced to a preset driver seat position? It doesn't seem so as I've had the seat not return to my preset position on a few occasions and I'm definitely using the same fob.
  7. Can you lower the vehicles windows with the fob? Honda has a cool feature when you double tap the unlock and hold on the second tap the windows lower. Great way to let the heat out in the summer when the car is sitting in the sun.

Ok, that's enough for now, I'm sure I'll have other questions. But that's all I can think of for now.
