What to experience in Makkah/Madinah other than umrah

I will be in Madinah for 1 day first and in Makkah for 5 days what can I do other than umrah? (Please have in mind I have type 1 diabetes and my mum is older so experiences that are okay for both of us)

Also I recently heard that Miqat is not masjid Aisha but from Taif, is it expensive/hard to there?
