Smart alarm

I added on the smart alarm plug and I like the idea behind it, however the volume of the alarm does this thing on my phone where it gets louder so quickly that it makes me jump out of my skin. Does anyone have a solution for this? Is it happening to anyone else? Is my phone haunted? I want to take advantage of the sleep cycle alarm but I don’t want to keep being deafened each morning. Thanks!
