My experience with peptides

Disclaimer: This is my personal/anecdotal experience with peptides. They may or may not work for you. I am not advocating for peptides over traditional medication. I myself take entivyo and it is the main reason why I’ve maintained remission for as long as I’ve had.

Okay I’ve recently went into histologic remission per a colonoscopy as of September. I was feeling great so I returned to my normal duties of trying to get all my strength and fitness gains back. I was 220lbs and was putting up a 285lbs bench, 405lbs squat, 475lbs deadlift. I heard about peptides during my flare up listening to many medical and science based podcasts along with looking at studies for targeted IBD treatment. I took BPC157 and TB-500 during my steroid taper and noticed that I felt better with those than just steroids alone. I then stepped away for a while. After I got remission I noticed that the steroids caused me to put on a ton of body fat. I was 185lbs at the height of my flare and got back up to 220lbs but ballooned up to 250lbs. I was use to cutting and bulking so I did the tried and true but for some reason this was different and difficult. I don’t know if the steroids caused me to be a hungrier person than normal but I could not put the fork down. I tried for 2 months and couldn’t lose a single pound. I then looked into GLP-1s after seeing the commercial success of Ozempic and Zepbound. I found Retatrutide which is Eli Lilly’s new triple G agonist hitting the market. I began trying it out and noticed affects immediately impacting my weight. I’m down 12lbs now starting it the first week of November but I’m not here to brag about my weight loss, I noticed something else. Ever since I’ve achieved remission I’ve had bouts of diarrhea. I changed my diet to gluten-free, Whole Foods, no added sugars and still was fighting it. Since starting GLP-1s I’ve had solids coming out and haven’t felt any GI distress at all. I looked into GLP-1s for IBD and the research is conflicting, some say it’s beneficial and some say that it can worsen. I think a lot more research is needed but I think I’m leaning on the side of benefit. Best bathroom trips I’ve had since getting UC. Look into peptides a little bit more, I’ve seen drug companies might be turning some peptides into biologics soon as well.
