Is NOCO Hailstorm on the verge of financial collapse?
I live in Cheyenne Wyoming and I was excited to hear about a soccer team in Northern Colorado back in 2022.
Their inaugural season was interesting. They played their first few games at University of Northern Colorado and then they played a few at Colorado State University and finished the season playing at a high school field in Severance Colorado.
I went to a few and thought the games were fun, but was excited to hear that their stadium would be done the following season.
2023 comes along and their main stadium is still under construction. They have a side field at their complex where they split the games with the local baseball team. The games were fun, but it still lacked a real soccer atmosphere.
I went to a few last year and thought, "okay, just a little bit more of a delay". Surely they'll have it all done for the 2024 season.
It's 2024 and it looks like nothing has been worked on. They are still playing at their side field. They must be averaging less than 200 people a game. Even though I've seen social media posts say that they're averaging over a 1000 people.
I've tried going online to learn more but there really isint any new information, other than the stadium has changed it naming rights.
Is the team going to have their stadium done before next season? Or are they on the verge of no longer being a team? I hear theres going to be like 7 or 8 new teams in the league next year, so losing 1 team may not be that bad.
Also, Spokane managed to get a stadium built in like 8 months and sold out their first game. So something must be up with the construction of this stadium.
Anyway. Maybe Cheyenne or Laramie would be a great place to have a USL1 team.
