Unpopular Opinion: USCIS is picking up the slack.

You have to give credit when it's due. USCIS is catching up on their overwhelming backlog from (still) the Trump's administration's radical yet vague and unclear changes in the immigration SOPs.

So let's be honest with ourselves: USCIS IS PICKING UP THE SLACK.

I have been lurking around this subreddit during my own process, and I have been closely watching and monitoring and estimating my own timeline based on people's timelines. Despite the difference in FO's processes, it's been pretty on point.

When we applied, it was 9 months into the pandemic it took them:

  • 1.5 months to get the receipt
  • +5 months later to get the biometrics appointment,
  • +3.5 months later for the interview
  • +2 more months post-interview to get approved.

A total of roughly 12 months for the process. And that is on the fast end of the spectrum. Some people are still waiting.

As I have been watching the recent timelines and applications, there is definitely progress. People are getting their receipts within two weeks or less, and a bio appointment within one month of applying. I personally know someone who applied two weeks ago and is already getting his bio in 3 weeks. This wouldn't have been imaginable just 6 months ago.

So as you wait, and I know the wait is hard, remember to stay positive. And to try your best to keep living your life as if you weren't waiting. The waiting shouldn't make your time feel less valuable.
