Advice needed Eb-2 applicant

I submitted I-140 (NIW), EAD and I-485 concurrently in October, 2022. I am a PhD student under F-1 status. I’m in the last stage of my program and currently working on my dissertation. I am not in a good place mentally so not doing well with school overall right now. I have been trying to take a break from school but was refused due to not allowed under school’s international policy for F-1 student.

I received my EAD in December, 2022 and an RFE for my NIW (I-140). For context, my EB-2 was filed under researcher. But, I am in such a terrible place mentally that I need to take a break from school and putting my dissertation research on hold right now.

Basically, I have a few questions: 1. Am I still under F-1 status after submitting NIW and I-485? 2. If I decide to pause school now, will that affect my application? 3. If NIW gets rejected, will I still be able to appeal or file again even if school is on pause?
