Nervous about the cost of education and the transfer process
Today I began my fourth and final year at my local community college, and I hope to be attending UCD in Fall of 2019 as a Computer Science major. I could have transferred this year but I wasn't emotionally or financially ready for it. My plan is to take this year to save up money and finish the two transferable classes I have left. However, I'm really afraid that the little I am able to save won't be nearly enough. My mom was recently diagnosed with cancer, and I think it will complicate the financial support I can receive even more. I don't even want to start a discussion with my parents about how much they are willing to contribute because of how much they are going through post diagnosis. I am pretty close to my grandmother and she wants to help out as much as she can, but she got visibly nervous after I told her the cost of tuition.
I was wondering if crossing my fingers that scholarships will help me out is being too optimistic. I currently have a 4.0 GPA. I'm also hoping that being a part time student during my last two semesters at my current school doesn't affect my chances of not only receiving scholarships but getting admitted to the school in the first place.
I would really appreciate any words of advice and thanks for giving it a read.
