Thoughts on the UCAT

I've been thinking about the procedure of candidate selection recently and it feels so flawed and insane. Like personally, thinking back on the ucat is kinda crazy bc that one 2 hour test on a day when I was experiencing insomnia and got like 2 hours of sleep is deciding the course of my life essentially??? its so fucking insane because i feel like it's the reason i wont be shortlisted for interviews from unis i really want to get into and idek. It's such a flawed system because of the way it is so influenced by luck -- like if you get a ucat variant that plays towards your strengths, if you get a good test center, if your computer properly functions, if your marker doesn't run out mid test, if you get good sleep on the day of and soooooooo much more and it feels so wrong that all these factors have even a role in determining my future. Yet, I also know that there isn't any other way that universities can significantly cut down on the bulk of the applicant list, which makes use of the UCAT necessary.

Idk if I even make sense or if this is me going insane because of not having received any interviews yet lolz

Anyways brain dump and it would be interesting to hear anyone else's thoughts too
