Gay marriage is a non-issue in 2025

Democrats still act like this is still an issue but not really. Being against gay marriage is just so passé. Banning gay marriage is a lost cause, bordering on political suicide. Are there still fringe groups of hardcore conservatives who oppose gay marriage? Sure, but they are nothing more than a minority. Basically everyone I know, even a handful of religious conservatives, do not care if a gay couple wants to get married.

Why? Because the anti-gay marriage stance is morally/logically indefensible. There are no 'real' arguments agaist gay marriage. They all depend on religious dogma or irrational homophobia.

Most issues, even ones that I feel strongly toward one side about, have real arguments on the contrary side. Take gun control, I am very strongly pro-gun. I will concede that there are 'real' arguments on the anti-gun side. Yes, they do believe that banning guns will help keep them out of the hands of criminals, or reduce the risk of accidental gun deaths. Or at least that is the intention anyway. I do not find them good arguments, because I disagree with them, but they still have some debatable merit to them. I believe the right to self-defense, and not restricting law abiding citizens because of the acts of deranged criminals, are stronger arguments. So I take the pro-gun stance, even though, I admit, there are morally defensible arguments for the anti-gun side, albeit questionable.

But anti-gay marriage got nothing! Nada! Not a single argument that can be defended by anything other than baseless claims of that being against the will of God or whatever. Freedom of religion included in our First Amendment for a reason.

So yeah, if you are reading this and you are one of those fringe hardcore conservatives who still gives a [expletive] about who people marry, then come on. Get with the times, this is a losing issue.

If you are reading this and you are a Democrat who is still pretending like the majority of conservatives want to ban gay marriage or something, look around. In real life, of course. Try to find someone in person who actually does, most of you will be hard-pressed, unless you live in like a super hardcore area.

Edit: Did not realize what was going on in Idaho. Really stupid. What a ridiculous hill to die on. They may win the 'battle' but they will not win the war, mark my words. Being against gay marriage is a losing position. Maybe not as much of a non-issue as a though for Idaho, but still so for the rest of the country. And I stand by what I said about the anti-gay marriage stance being logically and morally indefensible.
