Nurses are some of the worst people I've encountered

The longer I spend in nursing school, the more I wish I'd never started. I love the information, I love helping the patients and it feels like somewhere I want to be career wise but i dread the thought of tolerating the type of people who majorly go into nursing for the next 35+ years.

I was at clinical and a nurse sedated a psych patient who was asking why she wasn't allowed to call a family member. The person didn't raise her voice, threaten the nurse, etc but she was immediately sedated because she "verbally abused" the nurse. Haldol can only be given every 6(?) hours so when it wears off and if she becomes aggressive, this same nurse will have to use other deescalation techniques that she should have used to start.

So many nurses are just bitter and can't fathom that other jobs are just as stressful. God forbid a nurse talks about enjoying the work she/he does, they'll rain down on them like a plague and talk about they're being delusional. They talk about how much they hate patients and hate their job. There's so much back biting, onery, etc. and I haven't even fucking started working yet.

Watching these nursing influencers lie about the reality of work (in both the positive and negative direction) doesn't help. It's no wonder nursing units are understaffed. Actual caring nurses dip because who the fuck wants to put up with terrible coworkers. An old classmate of mine just graduated last year and she already hates it. Not because of the patients but because of her coworkers and managers.

So many nurses have a god complex and think they're martyrs for choosing this job, hating a unit and then not deciding to try out a different unit/specialty/etc.
