Choosing a name

I am currently fluctuating between Elliot and Atlas, and all my irl trans friends are happy with the first name they ever tried, so I don’t have anyone I can ask. How did you guys choose your names? How many names did you go through before you settled on one? How long did you use a name before changing it legally, if you have?
