Dental implant pain after two weeks. Help.
Hi there
Hoping to get some advice or reassurance here.
Two weeks ago I had an implant and sinus lift procedure in one go on an upper molar (just the screw not crown obvs). I was told I’d feel normal again within a week but have had pain and discomfort in the implant area ever since, to the point where sleeping has been heavily impacted.
Dentist put me on two types of antibiotics and in the last couple of days the pain has decreased somewhat but I’m still very much feeling discomfort in the area. It’s a pressure/tightness/tension feeling that aches similar to a toothache and radiates into my sinus. Not unbearable but quite unpleasant and worse at night. Personally I feel the antibiotics are a red herring and infection isn’t the issue here.
Dentist says wound and x-ray all looks fine but to me something feels wrong. Or is this just a normal healing process?
At what point do I say this hasn’t worked and it’s time to have the implant removed? I certainly can’t live like in this discomfort for the rest of my life.
Thanks
