Ollie the lamb and a polar bear-non Wooble
I finally finished Ollie. I kept putting off adding the eyes and nose. I did a few things differently than the pattern. First, I obviously added a border. It's just 2-3 rows of single crochet. I also did a chainless foundation row to start the project. This was the perfect project to try it for the first time. I also didn't think the legs were long enough so I added a row. The tail was one of the original legs. Adding a border, a chainless foundation and the bobble stitch were all new to me.
This was a fun project, but I don't think I'll ever make this again. This one is for my first grandchild, a girl, to be born in a couple of months. If I was more confident in my skills I would have done one more thing differently. I would not have closed up the lamb head with decrease stitches. I would have finished it the same way the legs ended. I feel like the head is so bouncy even though I added lots of stitches when sewing it on.
The polar bear was a free pattern from Yarnspirations. It used joined rounds instead of continuous rounds. It was my first experience with that method. I changed one part of the pattern. I didn't like the roundish snout so I crocheted into the BLO on the third round for a more pronounced snout. I thought it was a bit of a miss in the pattern as it used BLO for the legs. It also required a LOT of sewing on parts and pieces. My daughter choose a winter baby animals theme for her upcoming shower. This will probably go on the gift table or become part of a centerpiece.
