Serious discussion: should kids under 12 be able to transition?

There was a post on r/ftm which said something about a preteen whose “never really been a girl” being transitioned by the parents, and I got instantly permabanned for even commenting on it. I personally think that until the body even has a chance to undergo puberty, how the hell did the kid even know what gender he is? He’s a child for god’s sake! Plus, HRT is based on the kid’s consent, right? How can a kid even….
