Why are today's teenagers so awful?

Like okay, every generation kind of sucks as teenagers. Teenagers as a whole suck. But there's a distinct lack of empathy among today's teenagers. People have no sense wrong and right a lot of the time. Teenagers will film other people in public just because they think it's funny, they'll shame other people for their interests or the way they act, they'll make fun of people for their living situations, leaning heavily on "offensive humor," and overall posessing a general lack of common knowledge. Society has shaped us all into either being emotionless or too deep, and it isn't cool to be sympathetic anymore. Obviously with this comes a lot of people of today's teenagers that are the change we wish to see, and are doing genuine good for those around them, but why do you, as a teenager, think that we are how we are?
