How did you survive?
I’m getting really fed up with all the extra shit. Like, how can I actually do my job (teaching children), when I’m constantly asked to do other things during my 45 minute prep time? I’m supposed to be grading 40 assessments, planning for lessons, responding to parent emails, creating behavior plans and keeping consistent data on those plans, going to countless meetings, working toward my professional goal, collecting data every two weeks for kids who are struggling, doing small groups to target those kids on a daily basis, etc. I could be here all day writing that list. I just don’t understand how a job can ask you to do all of these things with 45 minutes of unmanaged time, if I even get that each day. There is just no way that other jobs are this bad, right?
This is my 10th year teaching and probably my last. I’m just getting angrier and angrier with every little thing that gets put on my plate. To those who got out, how did you survive that last year? Is the grass greener?
