Retirement - how are you planning for it? - CA

I started teaching 3.5 years ago and only opened an additional retirement account at the beginning of this school year.

I know we get pension from calstrs when we retire and understand that is likely not going to be enough when we get there.

I didn’t want to invest in a 403b and opened a Roth IRA instead. I am unable to max it out right now due to going back to school and wanting to save for my future home/paying off student debt and planning for the additional I will soon be taking on.

I wish I could retire between 60-65 but I don’t see this happening in this economy. I’m 28 right now. I have a small amount in retirement form a past job government job but never made enough prior and didn’t have the financial literacy until this last year.

What are you doing to prepare for retirement?
