just learned today that my non-clear water bottle is not allowed
so i started working at target a little over a month ago. i noticed i would get very thirsty while i was working so i decided to invest in a nice water bottle since i was told that i could have water on the salesfloor so long as it was in a closed container. so i was like okay cool, and i paid good money to get a nice one that can keep my water cold for a long time (it was over $50)!! for context it’s a big stanley brand cup, the actual cup isn’t clear but there is a clear lid so u can still see inside of it if you have to. anyways i’ve been using the cup for a couple of weeks, just putting it on my u-boat or keeping it around my work area if i’m working in the back. absolutely no issues until today.
at the end part of my shift, my TL was like “hey, so [SD] wanted me to tell you that if you want to have water on the salesfloor it needs to be in a clear bottle.” and i’m like, that’s fine but why was i not informed about this very crucial detail BEFORE i spent $50 on an opaque cup. (i didn’t say that out loud but i was absolutely thinking it) also why didn’t he tell me himself?? it’s not like he wasn’t in the store at the time and i had even spoken to him several times in that day?? i even told SD that i was planning on buying a nice water cup to use on the salesfloor and he was like “that’s cool, hope you find a good one!” and didn’t mention that it needs to be clear once. i USED the cup for like, 3 weeks, and SD saw me using it and holding it in front of him and even while talking to him. but for some reason i’m only just now finding out that the nice water bottle i bought is in illegal maneuver? do they think i’m filling it with 40oz of captain morgan every day or something? 😭 not to mention it has a clear lid so if they must verify that i am not getting absolutely smashed during every shift all they have to do is look thru the top of it.
anyways thanks for coming to my ted talk. this is definitely not an end of the world situation and i will be purchasing a clear bottle because i like to drink water and i also like not getting in trouble, but i’ve never had a job with this rule, and i feel like it’s especially dumb at target considering we have a literal starbucks where guests purchase drinks that are not water to walk around the store with and i have to clean them up when they spill. just needed to rant about something i found a little silly
