BLOOD BOMB TESTING (not OP)
So we did something testing for bones' blood bombs on family house. We tested all types of scenarios, placements, proximities, counters, and any glitches. And what we learned through out extensive but fun testin: blood bombs are low key not that great, easily countererable unless you lay it on key certain placements. Below is a list on what we learned.
COUNTERS: Victim trigger and fuse time - bombs only trigger when running or jogging by one. If you crawl next to it or crawl towards it they won't trigger. You can crawl up to a gate with a bomb next to it and start picking and it won't trigger.
Fuse delay: there is about a 2 to 3 second delay on the bomb. Simply by jogging or running by a bomb triggering the timer. 90% percent of the time you can easily get past the blast radius unless you run in circles, and most of the type the bomb just knocks over the family member chasing you, in many instances victims can rather use bombs against family. We tried multiple bombs on multiple walls, next to gaps, hiding spaces, crawl spaces. Stairs cases. Every instance a running victim just zips through the AOE and escapes without damage. (Noting again, crawling next to any bomb will not trigger it)
CONS :
No HITCH trap combo: we sadly found out that if you set up a hitch trap adjacent to a blood bomb, and the victim gets caught in HH trap. The bomb will not trigger AT ALL (don't know if this is a glitch or on purpose) so my fantasy of double trapping grandpa with bombs and HH traps will only stay in my dream 🥺
Bombs on obstacles: we were excited for this one but sadly we found that the bomb only triggers after a victim comples a crawl/gap/barricade animation making them easily escape the blast range once it sets off. Only saving grace for this placement is if you want to destroy the crawl space or barricade. But if you have hands or LF then these placements are almost useless. Since they can break those obstacles
NO victim well drop bomb triggers: If you place a bomb next to a well drop. The bomb only triggers when they are on their feet standing after recovery normal or incapped and can easily run away when it goes off and escape the blast radius . So it's useless.
Missed on testing. Will update list after finished: zap from hands bomb combo. Need to see if zap animation of victim will trigger an adjacent bomb
Bomb placement next to a ladder, need to see if a crawling victim gets to ladder and starts climbing will it trigger a bomb (knowing crawl won't trigger bomb)
PROS/effective placements : ol' bonesie's blood bombs CAN be brutally effective if you know how to place them properly. Here's what we learned -
Bombs knows know bounds: blood bombs do not adhere to walls. Meaning they do trigger when placed on a wall and a victim is on the opposite side. Damage clips through. They might not notice the bomb and trigger it but if they happen to be running or jogging they can escape the AOE. But to take advantage of this, we found the best way to utilize this is to place is behind (opposite side) of locked games. When victims try to unlock they will trigger bomb and recieve damage. This has worked beautiful on essential gates. However be aware you can counter this by crawling to a gate and get into picking animation. (Note if you double bomb it's double the damage)
Double damage bomb: as mentioned above victims caught in AOE of two bombs will relieve massive damage down to a quarter health (haven't tested if no sell works against bombs) combine that with extra damage for bombs ability and you might incapp a victim right with two bombs and upgraded skill.
Grandpa basement is effective: bombs place next to grandpa does work and will affect victims if they chose to stab only. Just enough time to keep them in range. But please note if they don't stab and notice bomb they can easily avoid AOE with running, also of note HH trap combo DOES not trigger bomb if they get caught first in trap. There is a way to have them trigger bomb first place farther away but in proximity of AOE to where they trigger fuse of bomb first and then run into trap . Then they will take both damage values from both traps.
Extras: family house, putting a trap outside front windows walls does work. They take damage from fall and bomb, and hh trap outside does combo it here in this case. Other than trapping gates, only other effective placement is near objectives like battery, gen, and fuse where victims need to stay near to accomplish objective.
Final thoughts: honestly unless you really discover how these bombs work on key placements and don't place them nilly willy on any wall. They can be very effective in damaging victims but at the very least reveal them to family. I will add more to this post in comments with further testing of things we didn't test earlier .
Happy hunting and escaping !
