Middle school was insane
Y’all. I’ve worked in elementary schools for over five years. I recently started subbing and did my first shift at a middle school teaching 8th grade Spanish. I cannot believe the amount of swearing I heard both in class and the halls. ‘Shut the f up’ ‘b*tchass, the n word from black students. Also of course they all wanted to be on their phones and I had to call security to take them rather than being able to confiscate them myself. I’m just at a loss for words, what a chaotic environment for the few students who actually are trying to learn. I’m sad for the next generation. That was just crazy, thank you for reading my rant.🙃 solidarity?
EDIT: after having a few hours to relax and reflect, I feel a little bad for blaming it all on the kids. A few other factors were that I didn’t know their cellphone policy for the first class and how to deal with that. Also had major issues with the computer connecting to the tv to screen share, which thankfully wasn’t needed that much but added to the chaos. At the end of the day, I don’t plan on doing many middle school jobs but I think I’ll at least be a little more prepared for what I’m in for next time!
