What should I do about a whole class who doesn’t follow directions?

Hi everyone! Yesterday I subbed for a class that did not respond to countdowns, the teachers “doorbell,” me using students names, or callbacks.

I believe teachers set up substitutes for failure when they dont go over expectations in the beginning of the year. I had a crazy class that wouldnt listen to me unless I screamed at them. I dont like to scream—at the very most i am very firm and loud but I had to full on scream MULTIPLE TIMES throughout the day. It was absolutely draining—I had a one on one para tell me that this is how it was with the actual teacher too. Her “doorbell” that is used to grab attention can ring and ring and ring and the kids dont care they just kept going. I went over my expectations in the beginning and that didnt stick AT ALL. The kids in this third grade class also didnt understand when appropriate times to talk were. They would constantly interrupt me to ask non relevant questions during the lessons i couldnt get ANYWHERE in a lesson without being interrupted. On top of that these kids did NOT know how to treat eachother, they were so foul and constantly just riling eachother up and i felt that i couldnt do much.
