Thanks to SteamDeck now I understand why people like retro gaming

Before the comment section roast me, I understand the attraction to retro gaming but to be honest my whole life (I am 30) I felt that the retro gaming was somehow too difficult to play because the standards of video games were not really set in stone, and being used to modern gaming could easily kill the joy of discovering a retro game.

I was not really afraid of graphics but mainly the quality of life features like auto saving, menus, inventories, lack of tutorials and all of this.

But thanks emulators state saves and SteamDeck suspend feature, I am discovering a whole new world!

I was not allowed to play when I was younger so I am playing classic titles like FF7, Metroid, NFS underground 2, chrono trigger… and I must say that I understand why these games are still famous today. I think FF7 is now one of my favourite game of all time, which I was really not expecting when starting the game.

I know a ton of games are not that good and I am playing only classic games, but still I am surprised to genuinely love my retro gaming experience.

This post has really no other objectives to point out that the SteamDeck is an amazing machine that really changed my perspective on retro video games and playing them on the go makes them very enjoyable!
