New fan, quick question about Maybourne.

I started watching SG-1 in mid-October 2024 based on a recommendation I can't even remember, I am now watching Season 5 and there is a recurring theme that Maybourne betrayed America or is a Treasonous person but for the life of me I can't recall why.

Without spoiling future seasons what is the reason?

Aside from that, this show is amazing and gives me Buffy vibes, just a cool show wanting to entertain the viewer and nothing more. There are 10 seasons and then an "Atlantis" season so I am looking forward to it all.
