Why did people not like sonic unleashed?

Can anyone tell me why it was such a popular opinion to hate sonic unleashed when it ran its course. I get if you weren’t a fan of collecting the medals to access levels and maybe the repetitive werehog levels, but overall I thought it was an amazing game all around. I just remember a lot of people hated it and it was a huge thing and I don’t know why
