[PSA] Elta MD reformulating/removing UV Elements SPF products
Another user brought this to my attention when I was recommending mineral sunscreens:
Elta MD appears to have removed their UV Elements mineral SPF 44 sunscreens and replaced them with "UV AOX" SPF 50 semi-mineral products instead.
I say "semi-mineral" because their new offering includes butyloctyl salicylate which is essentially a chemical filter that many companies pad out SPF ratings with, but aren't required to list as a filter (LabMuffin did an article on it here). This means that many "mineral" products are actually partially chemical filter products as well. For most people that's probably not an issue, but I'm sensitive to all chemical filters and have to use true, 100% mineral options which is not possible with the new AOX product.
It sucks since UV Elements tinted was one of the only tinted sunscreens that was a true 100% mineral product with a reasonable amount of tint that didn't turn me orange. The only other product they have that doesn't have a chemical filter in it is their UV Luminous SPF 41, but it's an entirely different tint color.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a new BOS-free sunscreen? Without niacinamide, preferably with similar tinting to the old UV Elements? Alternatively, anyone want to send me their unwanted UV Elements products? :'(
Really tired of this reformulation garbage, especially from companies that are "designed with dermatologists," and, "for sensitive skin types." The hypetrain strikes again
