Skeleton Explorer
I had a collection void of any pieces that display the wonders of mechanical movements. I also had a riyi case sitting around and thought that would be a sexy body for such a project.
I searched for weeks for the right dial and finally found and got in touch with modsmithwatches on instagram who custom makes transparent lume-filled glass tube dials. He’s a great dude, go check him out.
The case is known to have hand clearance issues, and the dial markers sit very high, so I currently have the second hand omitted. I believe that if I push the movement down any further it could interfere with the stem’s operation but maybe I’m wrong. I am using the riyi case with sapphire crystal, but have the acrylic version on order to see if that will allow me to get that second hand back in there. Riyi told me the acrylic option should have more room under the crystal.
Using a NH70 and bridge and rotor from Lucius Atelier. Those screws are tiny and I couldn’t have done it without my nerd-verifying loupe glasses.
Velcro strap from the strap tailor.
Put it all together in my gf’s brain cancer research lab, which provided a sterile environment and powder free gloves with nice texturized fingertips.
Let me know how y’all feel about this one.
