Advise from the wise ones.

I am a 65 year old that just started playing with the stock market on my own Dec. 3. I don't know why I had not done it sooner because it is quite fun to do.

I have most of my money with a financial advisor and have made pretty good money with them.

I had about $120,000 of play money I wanted to try so I moved the stagnant money out of my savings and over to Schwab. I kept, about $55,000 in my savings because my wife said I had to for easy access. Wives??

Anyway, I can't believe how much there is to learn about all of this stuff. I have made some bad moves during my short time, but that has helped me learn more about trading. I sold some of those stocks and have not lost any money, but choosing stocks is not as easy as I thought it might be.

At this point I am beating the S&P by over 1.5% and the others by 4% or more, so I must be getting lucky and finding the right info on purchases.

I don't want to lose this money and would truly love to make some extra spending money to help with trips we will be taking in the future. With the way the markets have been I am down but, that's just the way the cookie crumbles.

I have about 65% of it in the cash & investments allocation with the SWVXX for some safety as I learn. If I feel like stocks are down enough to buy, I have just been selling some out of there and buying. It has worked fine. I have about 23% in US large cap and 10.65% in US small. I only have .42% in international.

I have read so much over the last month my eyes hurt, but what I find is that I read one piece of literature and then the next one says just the opposite of what I just read. Then I watch someone talk on the market and they say one thing and the next person I watch says something totally different. Talk about getting overwhelmed and confused??????????????? Well, I still think it is fun.

What kind of words of wisdom can anyone offer to someone that is just starting out?
