Are SIBO kits purchased online adequate?
I’ve read that the actual SIBO testing consists of taking readings over the course of several hours, and I am struggling to figure out how an at home kit is going to capture the same thing as an in person test (of course the in person test won’t be able to be done until January…). Open to suggestions here, have been suffering for years and have finally ruled out just about everything other than SIBO.
Also, my doctor wanted me to take Xifaxan without the testing, but I wasn’t sure which strain of SIBO I might have, and if I might need the other antibiotic as well. She called the order in, but I’m hesitant to start it until I have testing done. At the same time… I am currently on amoxicillin for strep, so it will be at least a month before I can get tested! Maybe it’s worth just getting on the Xifaxan? Open to any and all suggestions here, just need to feel better ASAP 😅
