A different take on the Verlander signing, probably wrong but fun

A few points about the signing already noted by others. First, he has value as a mentor to young pitchers, and gives pitchers more time to develop, e.g., Birdsong, Wisenhut. Second, if he reverts back to non injury Verlander you have a cheap number three starter. Okay, but third and my different take- given the many young pitchers plus a vet like Hicks, and the stories about Posey looking for a bat and being active in attempting trades, it is entirely possible that Giants are preparing to move a young pitcher, other than Harrison or a vet like Hicks, after the Sasaki signing, likely not us, to a pitcher needy team, along with some player like Yaz or Wade, or Wilmer, plus some other offensive player to acquire a young offensive upgrade. I cannot speculate whom that would be, but Boston has a young first baseman and outfielder, as examples, perhaps Toronto, or a team like Miami, interested in developing a young pitcher. This is my hot take.

Finally, should miraculously we get Sasaki as well, it is without question that the aforementioned move would happen. A rotation of Webb, Ray, Verlander, Sasaki, Hicks, and even add a sixth starter, Harrison, and you still have Roup, Black, Winn, Beck, Birdsong, Ragsdale, Seymour, Wisenhut, plus one or two others near major league ready. Thus, even without Sasaki, a trade is likely, but with him it is a slam dunk.
