What if there was no yearly upgrade?

I was thinking the other day it might be refreshing to see a company like Samsung put up their hands and say "hey you know what...? The s24 ultra was so powerful and ahead of its time that there is no need for an upgrade after a one year..

In fact it's going to take us 2 years to come up with enough to top it. So stay tuned for some actual upgrades in 2026.

Is anyone else tired of the one year upgrade The basically little to no new features?

I'm really not sure why Samsung is bothering releasing an s25 ultra.

And from what I understand the iPhone 16 line is going through the same dullness.

Maybe companies should stop trying to upgrade every year. I mean does software upgrade really count as an upgrade? I don't think so doesn't to me. I don't justify the hardware because the old hardware can't support the new software... It's such a lame excuse. The s23 ultra in all my app tests is a fraction of a second slower than the s24 ultra. When I look at both phones side by side there is almost really no difference between the two devices... The camera difference is barely noticeable and arguably goes in the s23 ultra's favor. There was really no reason to upgrade for me except for the camera... And that was a total let down. The s25 is going to be a total let down as far as the camera also. New AI features? Ugh please. I don't want them.

Why would I buy a new phone just for a software upgrade?

If I had to wait two years for some serious upgrades? I would love to see that happen.

It never will. But I think it would be cool to stop all the fake upgrade cycle year after year.
