How long is joining process for the submarine service and will I be stationed at faslane?

I am aspiring to be a writer within the submarine service, I have seen people waiting 2 years and more on this subreddit, how long will the joining process be for the submarine service and will I be shoreside at HMNB Clyde when I am not at sea?
