I hate leveling up

Is there anyway to streamline progression in this game? There are too many skills, too many items, and those skills and items have too many weird little counters that do fractional effects for me to keep track of in any coherent way that can make sense of tradeoffs. At high levels, I just pick things semi-randomly to close the level up screen faster, which is obviously not how the game was meant to be played.

Are there any ways you have found to reduce the chore of leveling your characters? Eliminating your characters is an option, yes, but I'm looking mainly for things like "I get this always, I never get that" or "this mod reduces all the bullshit menu traversal in the game by 40%."

Edit: for all the people who replied "just read the descriptions" or "it's fun to level up because you can optimize builds," I'd just like to say that Underrail is also a game with prolific build customization potential, but it all feels both more fun and meaningful because there's like 40% of it, from both the number of options to the length of each feat's features.

I've played Owlcat's Rogue Trader like six times now and the tedium of actually playing the game is something I notice each time. I keep playing the game because I obviously like it, which is why I asked for ways to make it better.
