Friendly reminder to go as fat as your frame allows

I know, I know… my rims aren’t deep enough to counteract the aero penalty with wider tires that bulge out more than narrower tires, but in practice, I can’t even notice it. I will upgrade these Syncros to Zipp eventually, but it will be mostly for looks, and a little bit for the aero gains. For now, these are perfectly fine for 60kph+ sprints. There aren’t any drawbacks really to riding on fatter tires. Even if you plan on riding on perfectly smooth asphalt all year round, the extra comfort you get, plus the extra grip when cornering and the bonus confidence when wet should be reason enough to do it. If you have bad roads or plan on going on fire roads, then your benefits are two-fold. I have a dedicated gravel bike for the gnarly stuff and a full sus mtb for the really rowdy rides, so I initially was stubborn using 28mm tires on the road bike. A friend of mine was getting rid of these 35mm slick Gravelkings and I decided to try them on. I now enjoy riding more than before. This bike is now ready for the Rapha Festive 500.
