Does anyone else feel hopelessness towards humanity?

This could be a problem of me scrolling comments too much on social media, but the news about the world aren't that much better either.

I'm always baffled at how uneducated, cruel and selfish humans can be. Sexism, racism, ableism. You name it.

Maybe social media attracts those kind of people and negative, big events are more news worthy than happy occurences.

But have we always been this bad? I know that in history, humanity used to be even crueler. What's with that? Why are we like this?

I've started to wonder if this is my personal purgatory. No way people are truly this ignorant and cruel... Right?

Right??

Is there a term for a feeling when you don't want to be part of your species anymore because you're so embarrassed and frustrated at them. Maybe at yourself too for getting caught up in other people's stupidity, that's stupidity too.

We are so intelligent yet we are so stupid.
