Future Bee

Lazy Bee of the future! 40 inch wing like the original.

Printed with LW-PLA, PETG and TPU. All up weight of just 22 ounces. Clancy recommends 30-40 ounces for the original electric model, so I’m very pleased with the weight savings.

Kept it simple.

3mm Carbon fiber tube for wheel axle, with PETG wheels and ‘hubcaps’, TPU tires with 4% cubic subdivision infill. Axle holes reinforced with PETG surrounds. Cool thing about the front axle is that the hubcap (aka wheel stays) and tire tolerances are tight enough that no glue is needed at all for front wheel setup. PETG rear wheel gear and 1mm carbon axle with TPU tire.

Wing is 2% gyroidal infill, Fuselage 3% gyroidal infill. Spacious bay for electronics. Wing has a single 500mm x 3mm dowel as a spar.

I had to add some monofilament line to support the elevator because it was drooping a little on the right side. The tail surfaces were printed with a few layers of 5% infill. I probably would have gotten more rigidity with a 100% solid tail but I wanted to stay as light as possible.
