What's your reaction when the MC does something very stupid with little to no benefits while having severe consequences?

Sometimes the MC or the author mentions how stupid and pointless the action is but justifies it by "it felt right" or "the MC just wanted to do it regardless". For me I find it's really annoying, especially when the MC is depicted as the smart and scheming type.
